Boston Premiere -- Meet the Director! On October 10, 1996 SAWA (South Asian Women for Action), with the support of Way Net and other Boston activist groups, will present VOICES HEARD / SISTERS UNSEEN, Grace Poore's documentary about battered women who are in prostitution, living with HIV/AIDS, deaf, disabled, lesbian, or undocumented. We hope to see you there.

• Its the Lake Effect! With recent squalls of old standbys closing and new sites moving in, we've had to completely revamp the Weather page. Its now better than ever, so before you go out, or out of town, check with us!
• The Polish section now includes a link to Polish News sources and to Donosy, a semi-weekly review of current political, economic and cultural afairs in Poland (trans. to English).
• We'v added a link to News Resource, a directory of local daily news worldwide on our Other Sources page. Link includes Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe, Americas (North, South and Central America), Caribbean.

• Feeling Dissonant? So are these folks. Here's what the new journal on Way Net is about. Find out what fits, send them something that doesn't.
• We've updated, fixed, and added to our Search The Web page.
• Spare Change's homelessness resources page now links to Real Change, a Seattle paper that publishes "the views of poor and homeless people and their advocates," and Seattle's Homeless Women's Network, a grassroots organization "dedicated to empowering women & youth to overcome the limitations of homelessness and poverty."

Also, Check out our new "button bar." Its now on the bottom of every page to give you instant access to all of Way Net from anywhere on the site. There is a text menu for those who don't like graphics, too. Go ahead, try it!

• Announcing DISSONANCE: A Journal of Things that Do Not Fit (coming soon). DISSONANCE will be a forum for ideas that transgress boundaries (but not completely off the edge). We are currently looking for original works to include. If you have something that does not fit, send it -- or a short description -- to us at <[CONTACT PAGE]> with "DISSONANCE" in the subject line.
• The Omnivore's QuickNews now features the low graphics version of the New York Times, which loads faster and has more information than the high-graphics version. BTW, You can now save your Times password and user ID so you needn't type it in all the time. Hurray.
• The Omnivore's Eurasian news page now links to the Finnish News Agency, carrying daily news in English or Finnish from Mofile Place, the web magazine of Finland, and the Virtual Embassy of Finland.
• We fixed the Omnivore's link to Intellicast weather on the weather page.
• Oh, and there's Yet Another Wondrous new gratuitous Way Net acronym "out there" (go yonder).

In the US local papers by state section, we have fixed two typos so that The Washingtonian Magazine link and Nashville's NewsChannel 5 Online both actually work now. Typ 'o the Omnee-hat to Robert Beasley fer the pointer.

• On the African News page, we have added a link to Africa Policy Information Home Page, which carries a broad range of documents concerning U.S. African policy issues.
• The Weather page has new links to NBC TV's Intellicast, The Weather Channel's Weather Now (thanks to "Paul from Callyfournia"), and Meteo France (thanks to Terry Healy)
• In the US National News section, we welcome The American Reporter online. It is a journalist-owned and operated web daily. Some news is accessible from the above links but most of today's news is here in a pay-per-click setup for which you must register.

We've updated the African news section of the Omnivore, with links to The Africa News Service and a new paper from Holland, the The Ghanaian Newsrunner. The rest of the African links have also been checked and updated, so try 'em out. The Africa News Service looks so good it has replaced the ANC page on QuickNews. The ANC page is still available from the African page, though.
