Ok, just so you don't think I was making up (and badly at that) I dug out my notes from about 1995, including ascii art below. THe idea is that perspective and certainty are related and as you grow more certain, your perspective grows more subjective, and that when you approach things objectively, you get pulled, like it or not, into relative certainty rather than absolute. Give Hume's essay on understanding a read for why. In a nutshell, there is always uncertainty that your objective correlation actually stands for the cause you attribute to it.

It is about your assumptions...to flesh out a few of the cryptic labels, the skeptical empiricist is alway pushing toward the objective while always keeping in mind the the skeptic's relative uncertainty. The agape religious person takes their subjective experience to be the truth and that is enough. The fanatic on the other hand, takes that experience and wants to make it your truth too by externalizing it, denying the gap exists, and claiming the objective (Just stay away from that curtain dammit). This is in fact what most claimants to the throne of being objective are doing, just pretending their subjectivity is objective. The realm between the conscious self and the unconscious is the space in which hubris develops. And anomie is losing the sense of self to the relativity and uncertainty of it all. At least that is how I am remembering it tonight.

from the boundary page above this one: treat approaches as approaches toward limits rather than as paths to destinations. This approach privileges the continual process of modelling over any discrete modeling event or its resultant model.  It renders models as provisional and subject to revision upon confronting the findings of other approaches.  It recognizes absolute and relative as directions rather than destinations.  Two solutions -- calculus with multiple perspectives and modelling rather than models, with conclusions provisional rather than laws.

ANyway, I thought it was kind of cool when I cooked it up, but have yet to do anything with it, other than chart my own career by trying to push the envelope of what I can know as a historian. And if you are wondering, the envelope in this case is the curve running on the underside of the diagonal line. That's where I think the productive action is, and I push and nudge things along that frontier as much as I can, taking strategory decisions as to where along the envelope to work for a particular task. sometimes the skeptical empiricist, sometimes the navel gazing heretic, and so on.

And here is what I wanted to put on the board....
2016 or so for the above, 1995 for the below.  I have the original datestamped file if needed I think.
